Nisoldipine undergoes extensive CYP3A4 first-pass metabolism, and strong inducers markedly reduce its bioavailability. Blood pressure control may be lost.
What this interaction means in plain words
Enzalutamide and Nisoldipine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Enzalutamide belongs to Endocrine; Nisoldipine belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Enzalutamide induces intestinal and hepatic CYP3A4, reducing nisoldipine bioavailability.
What to do
Avoid the combination; use an antihypertensive that is not a sensitive CYP3A4 substrate. If unavoidable, monitor blood pressure and titrate the dose.
What to ask your pharmacist
