What this interaction means in plain words
Erythromycin lactobionate and Everolimus can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Erythromycin lactobionate belongs to Anti Bacterial; Everolimus belongs to Oncology.
Why it happens
Inhibition of intestinal and hepatic CYP3A4 and P-gp reduces everolimus clearance.
What to do
Prefer a non-interacting antibiotic where suitable. If erythromycin is needed, reduce the everolimus dose and monitor trough levels.
