Summary

Both drugs have the potential to prolong the QT interval, so combined use may increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmia including torsades de pointes. The risk is higher with hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, bradycardia or other QT-prolonging medicines.

What this interaction means in plain words

Fluvoxamine and Posaconazole can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Fluvoxamine belongs to Central Nervous System; Posaconazole belongs to Anti Fungals.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive pharmacodynamic QT prolongation.

What to do

Check a baseline ECG and correct electrolyte abnormalities, then monitor the QTc during co-therapy. Switch to a lower-risk antidepressant if QTc lengthens significantly.
