Summary
Ticlopidine inhibits CYP2C19, and ospemifene is partly metabolized by CYP2C19 along with CYP3A4 and CYP2C9. Ospemifene exposure may therefore increase, raising the risk of adverse effects such as hot flashes or thromboembolic events.
What this interaction means in plain words
Ospemifene and Ticlopidine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Ospemifene belongs to Endocrine; Ticlopidine belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Ticlopidine inhibits CYP2C19-mediated metabolism of ospemifene.
What to do
Monitor for ospemifene adverse effects, particularly thromboembolic events and endometrial changes. Consider an alternative if clinically significant effects appear.
