Summary

Solriamfetol with an MAO inhibitor such as procarbazine may cause marked increases in blood pressure and heart rate. The solriamfetol label prohibits use during or within 14 days of MAOI therapy.

What this interaction means in plain words

Procarbazine and Solriamfetol are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Procarbazine belongs to Oncology; Solriamfetol belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

MAO inhibition raises catecholamine levels while solriamfetol blocks dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake, producing additive pressor effects.

What to do

Do not use together; separate by at least 14 days after stopping the MAOI. Choose an alternative wake-promoting agent.
