Anthracenedione; DNA-reactive agent with cell cycle nonspecific cytocidal activity that intercalates into DNA resulting in cross-links and strand breaks; inhibits DNA and RNA synthesis

Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis: 12 mg/m² short IV (5-15 minutes) infusion q3Months, Not to exceed lifetime cumulative dose of 140 mg/m²

- Unsafe Cytotoxic; can harm the fetus. Women with multiple sclerosis need a negative pregnancy test before each dose and effective contraception. Avoid in pregnancy, especially the 1st trimester; cancer treatment later in pregnancy is a specialist decision.

- Unsafe Passes into milk and was still found 28 days after a dose. US label: stop breastfeeding before starting treatment. LactMed: breastfeeding is considered contraindicated during antineoplastic therapy.
