Summary
Voriconazole is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor and is expected to raise silodosin concentrations substantially, increasing the risk of orthostatic hypotension and syncope. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors are contraindicated with silodosin.
What this interaction means in plain words
Silodosin and Voriconazole are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Silodosin belongs to Genitourinary; Voriconazole belongs to Anti Fungals.
Why it happens
Strong CYP3A4 inhibition reduces silodosin clearance.
What to do
Do not coadminister; withhold silodosin or use an alternative alpha-blocker during voriconazole therapy.
